Robotic Mower: Discover how you can get the perfect lawn…by doing nothing!

Imagine this………… you are relaxing at home, feet up, surveying your garden (with a delicious cup of tea in your hands) and what passes you by?……. Your new HUSQVARNA AUTOMOWER!

If you want a perfect lawn but without the work then the Husqvarna Automower is the machine for you! Silent and fully automatic, it works when you want it to – leaving you free to do other things.

It cuts the grass frequently. The small clippings are returned to the lawn to form fertiliser. Husqvarna Automowers use razorblades to cut each blade of grass, resulting in a lush, green lawn that conventional blades cannot achieve.

Since the Automower runs on batteries, there are no emissions generated by the mower, and the actual energy consumption is very low. The running costs are only around €10 to €50 euros per season for the electricity consumed, depending on the size of the lawn.

The Set-Up? The working area and areas to be cut are defined by a boundary wire. This is easily laid out around the desired cutting area. We have a fully trained staff member who can either carry out or advise you on the installation process as well as telling you about the ins & outs of your new automower. The auto mower is equipped with anti-theft alarm and PIN-code lock.

Spring Has Sprung – Release the Rotavators

Spring is here which means we can get back out into our gardens and fields and start preparing the soil for growing our various goods. In order to do this you will need A ROTAVATOR.

Rotavator Macroom Tool HireWhat is a Rotavator? For those of you who don’t know; Rotavators are powerful pieces of gardening machinery, often used in gardens and fields, to breakup, churn and aerate the soil. They use a set of blades or rotors which spin and break though the soil. This improves drainage, levels the area and makes the ground perfect for growing vegetables and crops.

Rotavators are a time and energy saving alternative to turning the soil over using a spade. You’ll find it quicker and less back-breaking with this powerful professional digging machine.

Macroom Tool Hire has 2 types of Rotavators available for hire: The Industrial  Rotavator & The Merry Tiller Rotavator

The Industrial Rotavator:

  • Ideal for use on large areas
  • Labour-saving and easy to use
  • Powerful 9HP engine
  • Available to hire for €90 per day

 The Merry Tiller Rotavator:

  • Ideal for use on smaller areas i.e. gardens
  • Labour-saving and easy to use
  • Powerful 5HP engine
  • Fold away handle for ease of transport
  • Available for hire for €40 per day

Rotavators are not easy tools to operate for a beginner. Therefore, at your request, the staff in Macroom Tool Hire are always happy to give you a demonstration and expert advice in relation to the machine. They are powerful, weighty and have exposed blades so we will make sure that you have a good knowledge of the machine that you will be operating, particularly how the controls work. Some models have a built-in safety feature, but if not, knowing where the off switch is located is an obvious must. Wearing suitable clothing is another must when operating a rotavator. Proper work boots, ideally those with steel toecaps, are essential on a rear-line rotavator, as the blades on the machine work closely to the feet when the tool is operational. Safety gloves are also recommended, as although they would not be strong enough to entirely protect the hand from injury if contact is made with the blades, they can offer some resistance, and also offer a firmer grip on the handles of the machine. Ear and eye protection is also strongly recommended – a rotavator is a noisy machine and can spit out debris (particularly stones). When operating a rotavator, always be aware of what is going on around the area, and always keep animals and children away from the machine and the space in which it is being used. Flying debris could cause injury to them as well as to the operator.

On a Lighter Note:

  • Did you know that the word ‘Rotavator’ is a palindrome!
  • And did you know that the rotary tiller was invented by Arthur Clifford Howard of New South Wales, Australia, in 1912.
