• Water based paints only which includes emulsion paint
• This Paint Sprayer is ideal for houses, pebble dash walls, sheds and other surface spraying.

The water based  paint or glaze may be called ‘acrylic’ or ‘latex’. This also tells you that it is water based. That also means it will dry faster. The fumes and odors will also be less intense. You should expect some odor and we recommend to work with good ventilation. Today’s water-based paints are available in primers, undercoats and finishing coats for both exterior and interior use. Most surfaces, properly prepared, can be painted with water-based paints, ie, brick, stone, fibro, masonry and timber.

Paint Sprayer for Oxide Based Paints only 

• Oil based paints only which includes Solvent Paints or Alkyd Paints
• This Paint Sprayer is ideal for steel works, sheds, gates etc.

Oil-based paint is more durable, but it takes longer to dry, and cleanup requires turpentine or paint thinner (mineral spirits). Oil-based paints are made with either alkyd (synthetic) or linseed (natural) oils. Alkyd paint is more common because it is less expensive and tougher. Oil-based paint is good for trim work because trim takes more abuse over time than do walls.

Oil Based Paint or Alkyd is best used for exterior trim, interior trim, doors, kitchens, high-moisture bathrooms, cabinets, furniture, decking and anywhere a rich, semi-gloss or full gloss look is desired.

How to use a Paint Sprayer:

• Keep spray gun about 12 inches from the surface.
• For best coverage, use a long, continuous motion – start your motion before triggering gun and continue your motion after the gun trigger is released.
• Overlap your spray pattern by about 50% – Simply aim the spray gun on your next pass at the edge of the previous painted area.
• Place suction pipe into your paint* drum & spray  (*Please note that your paint must be thinned down to suit the paint spraying machine 70:30 ratio)
• Always clean out before and after use with water for the water based sprayer and white spirits for the oxide paint sprayer.

Spray Techniques: 

Keep your distance consistent – Start by getting comfortable moving the spray gun and learning to maintain the recommended distance from the surface. Ideally the gun (spray tip) should be pointed at the surface to be sprayed – square to the wall (perpendicular) – and held approximately 12 inches from the surface.

Triggering the spray gun – Next is learning how to trigger the spray gun. You always want to have the gun moving before you pull the trigger (starting the spray) and continue your stroke after you release the trigger.

Wallpaper Remover

Sooner rather than later as part of your home DIY you will most likely find yourself having to strip wallpaper from the walls of a room.  This used to be a labour intensive and time consuming job, but now electric wallpaper strippers do the work in half the time. The machine produces steam like a kettle, which goes through a hose to an attachment similar to an iron. The steam breaks down the glue on the wallpaper which is then easily scraped away.  

• This Wall Paper Remover provides a fast and effective way of removing old wallpaper.
• Just let the steam soften the wallpaper and then scrape it off.

Before you start

• Cover any electrical outlets and plugs to prevent moisture getting into them
• Protect the floor area with a non-slip floor covering
• Open windows and doors to ensure good ventilation
• Score or perforate existing wallpaper to allow the steam to dissolve the glue easier.

Using the machine

1. Fill the steamer with water
2. Plug into a power supply
3. The water will heat and the steam will flow to the plate
4. Hold the plate against the wallpaper for about 30 seconds
5. When the wallpaper begins to soften, it can be scrapped away
6. Be careful when removing the wallpaper as the steam will heat the paper and glue and it could cause burns to the skin.
7. Steam and scrape until the all the wallpaper has been removed
8. The wallpaper stripper we stock will run for up to an hour and a half before switching off automatically when a low water level is reached.
9. When the water runs low and the machine switches off, wait about 2 minutes to allow the steamer to cool before refilling with water.

Things to remember

• Wear goggles, long sleeves and gloves to protect you from the steam

• Have a suitable surface or stand to place the hot plate when it is not in use

How do Concrete Vibrating Pokers Work to remove Air from Concrete? The vibrating action of the head causes the surrounding concrete to vibrate.
